Both of them are great car seats, especially because they’re made by a great brand.
The Britax Roundabout 50 is made for children weighing up to 50 lbs, and up to 49″. While the Britax Roundabout is made for children weighing up to 40 lbs, and up to 40″.
It all depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a car seat that allows a little more flexibility, I would recommend the Roundabout 50 because you can use it for longer due to the weight and height.
When I bought my car seat (Britax Marathon), I found this website to be really helpful http://www.findmycarseat.com. It is all about car seats and you can look at what Britax has to offer, as well as other brands.
I’d buy the Roundabout 50. The regular roundabout is almost the same price (actually – it might even be more retail?? but on sale its a little cheaper) – but the roundabout is outgrown around age 3 where the roundabout 50 is outgrown around 5ish for an average child.
The roundabout 50 is more like a “cheaper” marathon (and when I say cheaper… its not the harness or the shell, there are just some extras like the latch clip that they saved money on). I think its a great deal for what it is. I’ve also heard that the Roundabout 50 for one reason or another has a slightly taller top harness height compared to the marathon.
The weight limit.
The regular Roundabout only goes up to 40 lbs. The Roundabout 50 goes up to 50 lbs.
i have the boulevard, bc of the high weight limit; the marathon as well goes to 65 lbs.
